The fact that the Vuelta a Castilla y Le\u00f3n has finally completed its first stage is a victory in itself. The second, on asphalt, came from the hands of Giacomo Nizzolo. The Italian rider from Team Israel donned the first multi-color jersey, which certifies him as the leader of the general classification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A 156-kilometer route between Benavente and Morales del Vino, featuring three riders who were part of the day's breakaway: \u00c1ngel Madrazo of Burgos BH, Miquel Vals of Manuela Fundaci\u00f3n, and Mikel Aristi of Euskaltel Euskadi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the slopes of the Alto de Villadepera, they were neutralized by a group of pursuers, including Simon Yates and Gorka Izaguirre, two of the favorites to win. The peloton wiped out the small breakaway. It also absorbed a dozen escapees, including Nibali, another heavyweight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
