British cyclist Simon Yates wins solo in Guijuelo to conquer the Vuelta a Castilla y Le\u00f3n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Briton Simon Yates (BikeExchange-Jayco) claimed victory in the 36th International Cycling Tour of Castile and Le\u00f3n on Thursday, winning the second and final stage, which started and finished in Guijuelo, Salamanca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yates, 29, who won the Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a in 2018, delivered the final blow to the stage and the race on the climb to Alto de los Santos, just over 20 kilometers from the finish line, managing to build a lead of around a minute to add another victory to his list of achievements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Only New Zealander George Bennet (UAE) was able to challenge him in a fruitless pursuit that only served to secure the second step on the podium, by managing to escape from the American Sean Bennet (China Glory) who initially accompanied him on the break, but who eventually gave up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
