The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport highlights the importance of sport, both for health, through its practice, and for the development of the territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Regional Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Sport, Gonzalo Santonja, presented the thirty-seventh International Cycling Tour of Castile and Le\u00f3n today in Valladolid. This premier national and international sporting event will be held on July 26 and 27 and will cover a total of 355.1 km in the provinces of Soria and Segovia. Nearly twenty teams will participate in this competition, both Spanish and from other countries such as France, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Israel, Kazakhstan, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, and Australia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Castilla y Le\u00f3n Cycling Tour is a prominent ambassador for the cultural and natural heritage of the region's provinces: "Cultural, natural, and landscape heritage, as well as the Spanish language, are strategic sectors for Castilla y Le\u00f3n, as key elements of identity, social cohesion, and economic development. The Castilla y Le\u00f3n Cycling Tour is a perfect showcase for all of these elements," Santonja emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first stage, on Wednesday, July 26, will cover 168.9 km, starting in Numancia, a site of great archaeological importance. The finish line will be in Soria, a historic city with equally exceptional architectural treasures, such as the Church of San Juan and the Hermitage of San Saturio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second stage will take place on Thursday, July 27, covering 186.2 km, between the Segovian town of Coca\u2014home to the prehistoric remains of the Cinco Ca\u00f1os, as well as its majestic Gothic-Mudejar castle\u2014and the monumental city of Segovia, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to the impact this event has on the image of Castile and Le\u00f3n, cycling instills high sporting values in society. "If all sports require enormous amounts of effort, sacrifice, and self-improvement, cycling embodies these values at the very core of a sport that is pure nobility. For this reason, it is important to promote the practice of this sport and encourage families, as irreplaceable players in transmitting these values to younger generations, to enjoy competitions like this International Cycling Tour of Castile and Le\u00f3n," the councilor emphasized during his speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
