The race will be held on Tuesday, July 23, starting in the capital and finishing in La Cist\u00e9rniga after a route of almost 200 kilometers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The XXXVIII Castilla y Le\u00f3n International Cycling Classic will not lose its sporting cachet despite its reduced format. It will feature 17 teams, six of them from the top category, who will compete for victory in La Cist\u00e9rniga on July 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Director General of Sports, Enrique S\u00e1nchez-Guijo, presented the regional competition at the Miguel Delibes Cultural Center in Valladolid. The event will begin in Plaza Zorrilla in the city of Valladolid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
"Next Tuesday the 23rd, you'll once again enjoy the best international cycling at the highest level in our land," explained the regional official, who added during his speech that this event once again establishes Valladolid as "one of the sports capitals of Spain."<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also participating in the event were Valladolid cyclist Daniel Cavia, who will be competing in this year's classic with Burgos BH, riding for the Aluminios Cortizo subsidiary. Also taking part in the presentation were Valladolid City Councilor for Sports, Mayte Mart\u00ednez; the Mayor of Cist\u00e9rniga City Council, Alberto Redondo; and the race's general manager, Laudelino Cubino. The event was led by journalist and speaker Juan Mari Guajardo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In terms of participation, there will be six UCI WorldTeams \u2013Movistar, UAE, Astana, Cofidis, Jayco Alula and Arkea\u2013, eight UCI ProTeams \u2013Burgos BH, Euskaltel, Kern Pharma, Caja Rural, Lotto, Polti Kometa, Q36.5, TotalEnergies\u2013 and three continental teams \u2013Illes Balears, Colombia Potencia la Vida and Victoria Sport Pro Cycling\u2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Regional Government of Castile and Le\u00f3n is funding this international competition for professional cyclists in Castile and Le\u00f3n, as part of its goal of "facilitating the organization of major sporting events in the region," such as this "high-level" cycling event, which generates "significant benefits" for the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Route<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The 38th International Cycling Classic of Castile and Le\u00f3n will be held this year as a new edition, adopting the format of a "one-day classic" and will be held in Valladolid, starting in Plaza Zorrilla in Valladolid and finishing in La Cist\u00e9rniga (Valladolid), a total of 199.7 kilometers over a "mostly flat" route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Cadalsa Cycling Club is contracting professional teams. The teams will be composed of seven riders each, plus seven technicians and assistants, for a total of 210 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is a sporting event that has "a significant media impact," which is why, in addition to its "sporting interest," its status as a "tourist attraction that increases the importance of this sector in the Community" is justified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Finally, throughout the presentation, a tribute was paid to journalist and writer \u00c1ngel Mar\u00eda de Pablos, who passed away on January 24 of this year.
