Caleb Ewan took the sprint victory in the Castilla y Le\u00f3n Classic, which took place this hot Tuesday between Valladolid and La Cist\u00e9rniga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Australian from Team Jayco AlUla was the fastest at the finish line, ahead of Davide Cimolai (Movistar) and Jenthe Biermans (Ark\u00e9a-B&B Hotels), achieving his second victory in 2024, after his victory in the Tour of Oman. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The race was marked by a breakaway from kilometer 3, with seven riders: Cl\u00e9ment Alleno (Burgos BH), Joao Mendes (Victoria Sports), Unai Cuadrado and Nicol\u00e1s Alustiza (Euskaltel), Edgar Curto (Illes Balears), Stiven Vargas (Colombia), and Carlos Garc\u00eda (Kern Pharma). Vargas was the first to be caught by the peloton, controlled by Astana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The highs have taken their toll on the escapees, with Carlos Garc\u00eda Pierna remaining alone, on his 25th birthday, being caught 15 kilometers from the finish, on a slope in the Esgueva Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From there to the finish, there was a lot of speed in the peloton, with Lotto and Movistar preventing any breakaway attempts, and TotalEnergies looking to get a foothold.
