The 39th edition of the Castilla y Le\u00f3n Classic filled the roads of the provinces of Valladolid and Segovia with cycling along 201 kilometers. A breakaway of six riders dominated until the final kilometers, until Haimar Etxeberr\u00eda (Kern Pharma) took the victory, beating veteran Jes\u00fas Herrada (Cofidis). <\/strong>on the final climb to Pe\u00f1afiel Castle in an agonizing and tight sprint to cross the finish line. Giro d'Italia stage winner Christian Scaroni (XDS Astana) took third place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Laguna de Duero Lake hosted the presentation of the teams from this Castilla y Le\u00f3n Classic. At the ribbon cutting were<\/strong> Francisco Javier Gonz\u00e1lez, deputy for sports of the Valladolid Provincial Council; Avelino \u00c1lvarez, mayor of Laguna de Duero; Jos\u00e9 Luis Frontela, councilor of Laguna de Duero; Irene Arraz, councilor of Laguna de Duero; Fernando Vara, councilor of Laguna de Duero; Virginia Arronte, councilor of Laguna de Duero; Mariano Palacios, president of the FCCyL (CyL Federation of Sports); Lale Cubino, president of CC Cadalsa; and Adri\u00e1n Gumiel, race director. The neutral race covered the area around the lake and also the streets of the town of Laguna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The provinces of Valladolid and Segovia witnessed and experienced with excitement the passage of the international professional peloton, with more than 150 riders, to complete the 201 kilometers of route between Laguna de Duero and Pe\u00f1afiel<\/a>.<\/strong> These towns were the start and finish of the competition, with the team gathering and starting from Laguna de Duero lake, and the finish line at Pe\u00f1afiel Castle. And the race didn't wait for anyone. From the starting gun, near Boecillo, attacks followed one another, and a group of six cyclists ventured into three consecutive attacks to form the breakaway group. Asier Gonz\u00e1lez (Illes Balears Arabay), Nichol Pareja (Victoria Sports), Viacheslav Ivanov (Pingtan), Lian Flanagan and Adam Lewis (Skyline), and Iv\u00e1n Loaisa (Spanish U-23 National Team) were the protagonists of the day at the front of the race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
