The 38th International Cycling Tour of Castile and León, now the Classic Tour of Castile and León, will be held on July 23rd in a single day, covering 199.7 kilometers between Valladolid and La Cistérniga, organized by the Cadalsa Cycling Club.
In a move motivated by ongoing budget cuts, the organization made the decision to make a significant change to its format for 2024, with the victory contested over a single day expected to be packed with excitement and spectacularity, with bold bids for the ultimate victory in one of the most storied events on the professional calendar.
The designed route will begin in Valladolid, next to Plaza Zorrilla, and will end in the Valladolid town of La Cistérniga after overcoming five third-category peaks: Robladillo (kilometer 15.4), La Garganta (kilometer 81.5), Portillo (kilometer 88.1), La Armedilla (kilometer 145) and Olivares (kilometer 155.8).
The number of teams and cyclists participating in the event will be another top-class edition, allowing for a high level of competition worthy of a race that boasts such notables as Miguel Indurain, Alberto Contador, Alejandro Valverde, Aleksandr Vinokurov, and Simon Yates, among others, among its winners.
