The Miguel Delibes Auditorium in Valladolid hosted the official presentation of the 39th edition of the Castilla y León Classic. The professional cycling event, organized by the Cadalsa Cycling Club and held next Sunday, July 27, between Laguna de Duero and Peñafiel, brought together the authorities and sponsors behind this legendary competition on the national calendar for its official launch.

The event was attended by Gonzalo Santonja, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Sports of the Regional Government of Castile and León; Avelino Álvarez, Mayor of Laguna de Duero; Roberto Diez, Mayor of Peñafiel; Enrique Sánchez-Guijo, Director General of Sports; and Lale Cubino, President of the Cadalsa Cycling Club. In the various interventions that took place at the Miguel Delibes Cultural Center from 12:00 noon, The authorities highlighted the importance of the event and the great work being done to promote cycling and the spectacular heritage and scenic beauty of the Castilian-Leonese community.

The first to speak was Gonzalo Santoja, the regional minister of culture, tourism, and sports for the Castile and León regional government: "It's a demanding route, with a vibrant course and a very high level of competition. Nineteen top-level teams will be participating, representing the international peloton, along with several Pro Teams, teams from Asia, the Americas, and Europe, and the Spanish U-23 national team. The Laguna de Duero-born rider expressed his pride and excitement at participating in the race in his first year as a professional cyclist: "It's a big step to be racing in my home classic and starting from Laguna de Duero." He also praised the presence of Valladolid riders in the international peloton and the foundations of cycling in the province: "We are showing that we have a very good group in Valladolid"Things are going well, we have three professional riders and we see riders below us who are going very fast."

Lale Cubino, president of the Cadalsa Cycling Club, emphasized the greatness of the event and expressed his gratitude for the invaluable support of the institutions that promote its celebration: "Thank you to all the sponsors for joining us and helping us. Thanks to your support, we can continue running our hometown race, which we all love. and we want it to continue existing because of the history behind it, which is very big and very long."

After 39 editions, the Castilla y León Classic has had illustrious winners such as Miguel Induráin, Alberto Contador, Simon Yates, Alejandro Valverde or Paco Mancebo, After several days of hard work, they rode from Segovia to Soria, from Zamora to Salamanca, from León to Burgos, and from Valladolid to Ávila. Classic Castile and León Tour 2025

The provinces of Valladolid and Segovia will see the international professional peloton, with more than 150 riders, complete the 201 kilometers of route between Laguna de Duero and Peñafiel. These locations will be the start and finish of the competition, with the teams gathering and starting at Laguna de Duero Lake, and the finish line at Peñafiel Castle.

Laguna de Duero will be the starting point. The town of Valladolid will host the teams' training camp and the start of the Castilla y León Classic in the scenic surroundings of its lake, a sporting area par excellence. It will host the start of the most important regional event, with the participation of elite international teams. After starting the race in Boecillo (km 0), the peloton will head towards the first key point of the day in the early stages of the race. La Parrilla (1.7 km at 6.6%), third category. In just 16 kilometers, the runners will face the first steep climb. After the descent, they will visit Olombrada and then continue the route to the second Intermediate sprint located in Cuéllar at kilometer 143. And in the last 50 kilometers, they will link a series of slopes and winding roads crossing Vallelado, Viloria, Aldealbar (second pass) and Langayo to finish the race with a explosive finale at the legendary and iconic Peñafiel Castle, who will witness the outcome of the 2025 Castilla y León Classic packed with fans gathered at the fences of the ramps surrounding the monument.

A total of 19 teams will compete in the competition, representing 11 different countries and three world cycling categories. Leading the field are the WorldTeam teams from the first division, with the Spanish team Movistar Team, the Emirati team UAE Team Emirates of the world champion Tadej Pogacar, the Kazakh team XDS Astana and the French team Cofidis.
