The mayor of Valladolid, Jesús Julio Carnero, today inaugurated the new bike lane on Paseo de Isabel La Católica, which runs through Las Moreras Park, between the Puente Mayor and the Isabel La Católica bridges. Next to it, a monolith and a plaque were unveiled in honor of Valladolid cyclist Estela Domínguez, who was fatally struck while training in 2023.
On the commemorative plaque, you can read the following: "Those who made magic in our lives never leave our souls. In you, Estela, all the values with which you have left an unforgettable mark on us flourished. E is for Estela, E is for Eterna," alongside an image of the young cyclist herself training.
The memorial is intended to be a symbol of awareness and respect for cyclists training on public roads and was placed next to one of the three recently transplanted trees. Estela Domínguez's family was present at the ceremony.
