The 2019 edition of the Vuelta Ciclista a Castilla y León (Castilla y León Cycling Tour) will take place from April 25th to 27th. The route will be linked to the Camino de Santiago as it passes through the region, with a route of 516.9 kilometers. The towns through which the stages will pass mark this cultural route and will serve as the race's guiding thread. Participating cyclists will travel from east to west through the north of the region, passing through the provinces of Burgos, Palencia, and León, to proclaim the champion of this edition of the sporting competition par excellence of Castilla y León. Thus, this event will combine sport and cultural heritage in a three-stage format that will begin in Belorado (Burgos) and conclude in Villafranca del Bierzo (León).

The Regional Minister of Culture and Tourism, María Josefa García Cirac, accompanied by the president of the Cadalsa Cycling Club and general director of the race, Laudelino Cubino, presented this Tuesday the 34th Vuelta Ciclista a Castilla y León, which will take place between April 25 and 27 and will run along the Camino de Santiago as it passes through Castile and León. García Cirac emphasized that the regional government "has been, is, and will always be promoting and supporting these major sporting competitions, for their sporting, tourism, economic, and social value."

For this reason, the organization, with the support of the Regional Government, has linked the route of this race in many editions to various cultural, heritage, and tourism events and resources in the region, such as the Ages of Man, the World Heritage Cities, the Northern Romanesque, the Silver Route, the Teresian Jubilee Year, and the mining basins, as they are a factor in the development of these territories.

This tourism potential is fully realized in this year's edition, as the three stages will follow one of the region's greatest tourist attractions: the Camino de Santiago. Cyclists will ride alongside pilgrims, highlighting the monuments along this route, the towns they pass through, their history, and the spirituality they embody.

The starting and finishing municipalities for each of this year's three stages are: Belorado and Castrojeriz, in Burgos, on April 25, covering 181 kilometers; Frómista and Villada, in Palencia, on April 26, covering 170.3 kilometers; and León and Villafranca del Bierzo, on Saturday, April 27, covering 165.6 kilometers. A total of 17 teams from Spain, Portugal, France, Israel, the USA, Colombia, Norway, Japan, and Russia will participate.
