The Director General of Sports, Enrique Sánchez-Guijo, presented the 38th Castile and León International Cycling Classic today in Valladolid. The event will be held on July 23rd and will take place between Valladolid and La Cistérniga. Also participating in the event were cyclist Iván Romeo; Valladolid City Councilor for Sports, Mayte Martínez; the Mayor of La Cistérniga City Council, Alberto Redondo; and the race's general director, Laudelino Cubino.
The Regional Government of Castile and León is funding this international competition for professional cyclists in Castile and León, as part of its goal of facilitating the organization of major sporting events in the region, such as this top-level cycling event, which generates significant benefits for the region. These events are a significant means of promoting the sport of cycling.
The 38th International Cycling Classic of Castile and León will be held this year as a new "one-day classic." It will be held on July 23rd in Valladolid, starting in Valladolid and finishing in La Cistérniga (Valladolid). The race will cover a predominantly flat route of 199.7 kilometers.
The Cadalsa Cycling Club, as in previous editions, has contracted the participation of professional teams, both UCI World Team, Continental Professional, and UCI Continental, resulting in a total of 17 teams participating, including all Spanish professional teams, while the rest are foreign teams. These teams will be composed of seven riders each, plus seven technicians and assistants, for a total of 210 people.
This sporting event has a significant media impact, which is justified, not only by its sporting interest but also by its status as a tourist attraction, which increases the importance of this sector in our region.
